Premier Suffolk County
Newborn Photographer
A little about my newborn session process:
Being a Suffolk County newborn photographer is the best job around! I have the opportunity to meet so many wonderful new families and watch them grow up before my lens. I love capturing the newness of the baby and the special bond between family. Being a mother of three, it brings me back to those first days with my own babies.
Once your baby is born, you will contact me to book your actual session time. Upon arrival, it will be warm and cozy for baby and pre-selected props will be set up. This ensures we have the most time possible with your sleepy baby. You get to relax and unwind while I pose your baby in all the adorable props we coordinated. You will also be photographed with your baby to capture images of how small they are in your arms. If you have older children, we will also capture their special bond with their new little sibling. Your full edited gallery will be available in just a few weeks and you can begin designing your birth announcements and planning your photo wall displays.
When to book your newborn session:
Book at least 4 months in advance of your due date to guarantee availability. You should book your session as soon as you know you want me to capture your babies first portraits. Most clients book after their first trimester, but you can certainly book sooner.
The Studio and Newborn Props:
I have all of the props and accessories we need for your session. I have many antique baskets and buckets as well as wraps, fabrics, headbands and hats. All of the props I use are carefully chosen so that they photograph just right. I use natural fiber knit fabrics and hats because they photograph nicer, fit better and are softer for a newborn. You are welcome to bring items to work into the session that are special to you, but it is not required. I have water and snacks for you to enjoy while you sit back and watch your session. Feel free to also take a nap…many new parents do.
What if your baby is over 2 weeks old?
If you just found me now and your baby is over 2 weeks, please contact me ASAP for availability! Newborn sessions are typically done between 4 and 14 days old, but contact me to discuss options for older newborns. Although babies become more and more alert and awake as the weeks go on, I have photographed 6-8 week old babies with success. I assure you, we can still capture beautiful images of your little one.
Do you offer a discount if I book both a maternity and a newborn session with you?
Yes! Be sure to get my FREE Maternity Session Guide and see how you can receive up to $50 off your newborn session by also booking your maternity session with me. Maternity sessions are done between 28-36 weeks.
Do you offer a “Baby Plan” or a “Grow with Me” plan?
Yes! I offer a first year session plan which includes Newborn, 6 month/sitter and One Year/Cake Smash sessions. Contact me here for details.

What clients are saying about this Premier Suffolk County Newborn Photographer:
When I found out that I was pregnant one of the things that I was most looking forward to was newborn pictures. Several of my friends had used Christine Melissa and their pictures were always so beautiful – there was never a question in my mind that when the time came I would use her as well. It goes without saying that the pictures of my son are adorable. She captured so many great shots of him that it was difficult for me to choose which ones I wanted to print out and frame! But, to be honest, having seen photos of my friends pictures taken by Christine I knew going into the shoot that I’d fall in love with the final product. What I didn’t realize was the extreme attention to detail and super personalized level of service that I would receive during our shoot. I was nervous for the shoot, because my son was a fussy newborn and I just didn’t see how I could get him to sit still long enough for pictures. Well, let me tell you, Christine takes care of EVERYTHING. I’m not sure how, but for several hours during the shoot she was able to keep my typical fussy baby asleep, warm, and quiet. She had infinite patience with my little one and she really has a soothing demeanor that just seemed to calm my son. He looks like a peaceful little peanut in all of the pictures. Having this level of service was so much more than just “taking pictures” – the whole experience from start to finish was really a pleasure. I plan on using Christine again for my son’s milestone pictures when they arise – I can’t imagine using anyone else. ~Heather
